Robert Bracken is a record-setting trial lawyer. In 2014, Robert obtained a jury verdict in excess of $32.8 Million in a medical malpractice case for a young girl suffering with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy as a result of a delayed c-section. The verdict was the largest reported medical malpractice verdict in the history of Chester County, PA. The verdict was 15 times larger than the defendant’s highest settlement offer prior to trial.
In 2019, Robert obtained a $510,000 jury verdict on behalf of a woman that was sexually harassed and retaliated against while working at a local Midas shop. Following the verdict, United States District Court Judge Cathy Bissoon awarded Robert more than $600,000 in attorney’s fees and costs and wrote: “Mr. Bracken’s preparation of this case was far in excess of what this Court has seen from counsel . . . .” Judge Bissoon also wrote that “the Court has no doubt that the monetary verdict in this case is a life-changing one for Plaintiff, but also that she received something valuable from standing her ground and proceeding all the way through a difficult trial.” The verdict and fee award was more than 10 times greater than the defendant’s largest pre-trial settlement offer.
Robert has handled some of the most high-profile cases in Western Pennsylvania in recent years and his cases have been covered by newspapers and stations throughout Pennsylvania and even around the country. Robert regularly tries and litigates medical malpractice, personal injury, employment discrimination, wrongful termination, breach of contract and other civil matters. In all, he has obtained far more than $50 million in verdicts and settlements for his clients.
Robert has been honored as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer – Rising Star and a member of the National Trial Lawyers – Top 40 Under 40, the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, the Best Attorneys of America and the Irish Legal 100 – Rising Stars.
Robert is a graduate of the Duquesne University School of Law where he was a member of the Law Review and moot court trial competition teams. During law school, Robert gained significant courtroom and jury experience serving as a tipstaff and law clerk to the Honorable Ronald W. Folino.
Prior to pursuing a law career, Robert played professional baseball in Pensacola, Florida. Robert currently resides in the South Hills with his wife and two children.
